Hunter joined Marine Solutions after completing an Honours in Marine and Antarctic Science at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies in Hobart. He has provided technical, planning, and field support for a range of marine ecology research labs and projects and has a specific background and interest in kelp forest community ecology, restoration, and seaweed aquaculture, completing his honours thesis on the faunal composition of Tasmanian kelp forest communities. He is a keen diver, with an ADAS Part 1R Scientific Diver qualification and experience conducting commercial scientific diving operations across a variety of projects and environments. As a research diver, Hunter is experienced with various marine survey methods and has expertise in species identification, particularly macroalgae, invertebrates and fishes, as well as experience and interest in underwater photography. He is a keen young scientist with an interest in gaining new experience and continuing to expand his skillset.
